SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) - - A nasty worm has wriggled into millions of computers and continues to spread, leaving security experts wondering whether the attack is a harbinger of evil deeds to come.

US software protection firm F-Secure says a computer worm known as "Conficker" or "Downadup" had infected more than nine million computers by Tuesday and was spreading at a rate of one million machines daily.

The malicious software had yet to do any noticeable damage, prompting debate as to whether it is impotent, waiting to detonate, or a test run by cybercriminals intent on profiting from the weakness in the future.

"This is enormous; possibly the biggest virus we have ever seen," said software security specialist David Perry of Trend Micro.

"I think the bad guys are field testing a new technology. If Conficker proves to work well, they could go out and sell malware (malicious software) to people. There is a huge market for selling criminal malware."

The worm, a self-replicating program, takes advantage of networks or computers that haven't kept up to date with security patches for Windows RPC Server Service.

It can infect machines from the Internet or by hiding on USB memory sticks carrying data from one computer to another. Once in a computer it digs deep, setting up defenses that make it hard to extract.

Malware could be triggered to steal data or turn control of infected computers over to hackers amassing "zombie" machines into "botnet" armies.

"Here we are with a big, big outbreak and they keep revamping their methodology to increase the size of it," Perry said. "They could be growing this huge botnet to slice it up and sell it on the criminal market."

Microsoft says it is aware of the Conficker "worm family" and has modified its free to detect and get rid of infections.

The US software giant also advises people to stay current on anti-virus tools and Windows updates, and to protect computers and files with strong passwords.

A troubling aspect of Conficker is that it harnesses computing power of a botnet to crack passwords.

Repeated "guesses" at passwords by a botnet have caused some computer users to be locked out of files or machines that automatically disable access after certain numbers of failed tries.

"Downadup uses brute force from the infected network of botnets to break the password of the machine being attacked," Perry said. "That is something never seen before and I find it disturbing."

Perry urges people to harden passwords by mixing in numbers, punctuation marks, and upper-case letters. Doing so makes it millions of times harder for passwords to be deduced, according to Perry.

"This is necessary in a world where malware hacks passwords," Perry said.

"Go get a notebook, keep it next to your computer and record your password in it. No hacker in the world can hack the written page locked away in your office."

I bought my phone a screen guard. After that a strange thing happened on my phone. When I'm making an outgoing call, my phone's screen goes blank. I've been thinking of ways how to fix it. I re-formatted it and still nothing happens. Then I recalled what I have read about the face sensor/detection on this phone, I realized that the screen guard was causing the blank screen when making calls. It was blocking the sensor. Guess I'll have to remove it. Waste of money. Stupid me.

I was so depressed I wanted to flush by xbox in the toilet. I knew that that day would come and it did. Right now I don't have any intentions of having my xbox repaired because it's too damn expensive. WTF! Shaq is now on Phoenix Suns. The Suns traded star player Shawn Marion and guard Marcus Banks. I think this is a good deal for both Miami and Phoenix. Shaq is not in his prime now because he's getting older and facing lots of injuries. But still, he's the diesel! He still can play good. Miami needs a perimeter shooting guy and Shawn Marion is a good pick. Even Miami has Shawn Marion, I don't think they can get to the playoffs. I like Miami but in their standing now? I really don't think they can reach playoffs. For the Suns, now they are more powerful. If Shaq brings his game back, there's no question they can be the new NBA champions.

Metal Gear 4 is coming to the Xbox 360 console! - That's what every Metal Gear fan and Xbox 360 owners are hoping to hear. I'm one of those. I was searching for a MGS4 image on google then I saw this one. A Metal Gear 4 game cover for the Xbox 360 made by a fan boy. Isn't that great?! We all know that Konami said that this game is made only for the PS3 console and I have been reading alot of rumors about this game coming to the Xbox 360. I have read one in XboxFamily. The assistant producer of Metal Gear Solid 4 said this:

"We're telling our fans that if you want to play 'Metal Gear Solid 4', you have to buy a PS3,"Ryan Payton, the assistant producer of the game.

What is their problem? I'm thinking, maybe the owner of Sony has a gay relationship with Hideo Kojima..? Or maybe Sony is paying good money on Konami? C'mon! Bill gates can double that! What is your most favorite song of Incubus? For me, Anna Molly is one of my favorites. It's poetic and very deep. Some people pronounce it anomaly. I think Anna Molly is another way of saying anomaly meaning something odd, a strange condition or situation. For me, my interpretation of this song is he's wondering if the right woman for him really exists. He's thinking about his ideal girl does really exists, which it doesn't is an anomaly. I don't know but that's my interpretation. Here's the lyrics:

I have played this game but only on a demo. It's like playing dance dance revolution but way better. It has lots of great rock music like the music of Pearl Jam, Ozzy Osbourne, Sex Pistols and Black Sabbath. I have read an article about the game series earning about $1 billion. Wow! This third title did so well, it was on the top games of 2007. I don't have this game yet but I'm gonna buy this one for the Xbox 360. The 3 red lights of doom, 3 red lights of death, 3 rings of death, ring of death- The fear of every xbox 360 owner. Yesterday my friend's xbox 360 died. Cause of death? the 3 red lights, which indicates "general hardware failure". It's very stressful to think that my xbox 360 will have the same fate. Canker sores and sore throat sucks ass! Last day it was very small and can be tolerated. But when I woke up this morning, it has gotten large and my throat begun to ache. I was eating a cracker then suddenly it bumped on it. The pain was very extreme I almost wet my pants... I saw this on the net. This happened on September of 2007. A seagull stealing a bag of Doritos from a store in Scotland. I don't see my cat and dog doing this. But a seagull?? The seagull is said to be doing this on a regular basis. The customers begun paying for the stolen bags of chips whenever they see this seagull doing this because they think it's funny. The rumor is about a young boy named Logan calling to a Christian radio station about a calf that he had to put down himself and how sad he was to lose it. Then during the phone call, he put a spiritual application on what he had experienced and he wants the public to know it. I have heard the phone call on the KSBJ(radio station) blog. Great news for old and new Transformers fans. Michael Bay has confirmed that there's a possibility that the Diobots and Constructicons will be appearing on the upcoming movie. Dinobots are a group of robots within the Autobots faction that are made up of five robots, who each transforms into a huge dinosaur robot. Constructicons are goup of robots when transformed, they became a huge decepticon - Devastator. I bet transormers 2 will be a big hit with those new entries. I can't wait!

We just found out that we are going to have a summer outing this coming march! (pls not on march 9) But they still haven't decided where to go. Our boss let us suggest on places. Hmmm for me Palawan is my first pick second is Pagudpod and lastly Puerto gallera. I hope it's ok for the"Big Bosses" to go on hours of traveling. Because after those long hours, boom! You want paradise? Here you go. Man, I'd love it if they decided to go there. It would be an unforgettable experience.
